I’m a dog person. Throughout my childhood and adult life, I’ve raised several dogs, mostly strays. So, when I moved to Malaysia—a Muslim country that loves cats—I could understand the cultural preference for felines. However, I couldn’t comprehend the hostility some people there have toward dogs. There were news stories about individuals splashing scalding hot water on strays or even shooting them with arrows. (Yes, you read that correctly!) When I learned that NagaDDB had collaborated with SPCA Malaysia, I reconnected with the client and offered my services. It didn’t take much convincing for my creative team to step in and help. Ultimately, with some help from my 7-year-old son, we executed the idea and were thrilled with the effectiveness of our campaign and its performance at local and regional award shows. (If you're interested in how my son helped spark the idea, please ask. Be warned: It’s a long story!) The highlight was when the campaign picked up some shiny awards at AdFest.
